A most amazing and beneficial development, which allowed the two key German Players in the blending, warping, simulation and dome market to combine their experience and product portfolio in this ever increasing market.
Since we started working with VIOSO products more than 10 years ago, the projection and with it the multi display, blending and warping segment has changed tremendously.
When VIOSO was formed initially to make the blending of multiple projectors easier and faster, the company has morphed into a world leading player of simulation, 3D and dome projection solutions. Not only as a supplier of software, but with on-site engineers to ensure that even the most complex and complicated installation is completed to perfection.
In addition to such service, the company provides on-line support and ensures the perfection of the installation at all times from their bases in Germany. Furthermore, for all installations training to local support staff is provided, or training can be arranged in Germany.
As the result of the merger of these two companies we have seen the emergence of an updated product line and extensive additions of features in their multi-media playback system EXAPLAY.
The product range now includes:
VIOSO 6 .
This is the successor of the classical Anyblend product, which has been introduced in 2022. Older Anyblend installations can of course be upgraded to VIOSO6.
VIOSO 6 is the classical desktop blending system.
What does that means?
Most software programs are designed to work with a single monitor or via an extended desktop.
Of course it is possible to feed this to projectors, but each ‘screen’ is clearly separate and divided. VIOSO 6 combines all this into a single seamless display, which can include multiple projectors.
The benefit is that there are no disturbing lines, as in seperate displays.
Most importantly, VIOSO 6 utilises the patented camera based image calibration, which reduces the image set-up, even with different brands of projectors, from hours of work into a process which is completed in minutes.
Even more, if the projectors would get out of alignment, which they do due to external influences like cleaning, vibrations (road or subway ones), earthquakes or any other one, a re-calibration feature allows even uninitiated staff to return a perfect projection.
Desktop calibration? Now that simply means that virtually any application you can display on your desktop can be split and projected with perfect blending over the projectors connected. Be it a flat, curved or even dome screen. Of course if you like, it can also be a house wall, a vehicle or anything else.
Now, if you are an multi-media expert and use other high-end applications, such as Unity, Unreal, Pixera, Vertex, Pandoras Box, etc., you might find it interesting that VIOSO provides plug-ins which allow the integration of the VIOSO calibration data without having to run a second machine.
Projection Tools new
Projection Tools is collaboration of the Domeprojection Technology and VIOSO system.
Projection Tools replaces Anyblend VR+SIM and VIOSO 6SIM.
Large installations often require a multitude of image generators or servers. Often with one server linked to an individual projector. All driven through a master server.
Sometimes, these complex installations are so designed that a single calibration camera, and mind you we can capture a lot with just a single camera, like 13 projectors on a circular wall + floor in one sweep, can not capture this. So multiple camera have to be deployed.
Image a super large, calibrated blending projection on to a mountain massive.
Projection Tools provides for all these complex calculation and the blending of the most complex projection arrangement.
New features like 3D projector mapping by projector perspectives and marker based calibration (active + passive) have been included as the support professional simulation repro, VBS, VIRES, X-Plane, etc.
Of course as with VIOSO 6 export and plug-ins for more than 50 applications are available.
EXAPLAY (version 2) new
EXAPLAY had been introduced as replacement for the VIOSO Player. A product many customers had no idea what it meant. EXAPLAY is the perfect multi-display, multi-media player. It is amazingly easy to operate.
The latest edition includes multiple cuelists& timeline on multiple outputs. It supports HAP, NotchLC, H265, H264, ProRes file formats. Allows for external and internal control (TCP, UDP, OSC, REST…).
Of course there are automation features + autostart handling for literally touches operation.
In fact, it is possible to operate it headless, not yours, from a browser.
Exaplay can be purchased as software or integrated into a German assembled PC system.
EXAPLAY is now available in two versions.
Manual projection set-up (also great if you use projectors with build-in blending) or use via multiple LCD monitors ate front-end for an LED display (in the latter two parts you do not need camera based blending and warping, or
optionally bundled with special VIOSO6 version (limited export to EXAPLAY) for camera based blending and warping.
Of course as a true multi-media company VIOSO offers wider reaching solutions. Bundled versions with Stumpfl Pixera or IOVERSAL Vertex.
As mentioned earlier, VIOSO can also be combined with Dataton Watchout, Christies Pandoras Box and other content generating and management systems.
Of course camera based calibration requires suitable camera kits. While a simple flat screen 3 projector system may be calibrated using a webcam, for domes, circular or simulation applications VIOSO offers a range fo tested and approved camera kits.
Last but not least. While all the mentioned softwares are available os software only, you design your own computer, it is possible to purchase complete, fully set-up systems directly from Germany. The only thing you need to add is creativity and your content.
