There are many video peocessors on the market and many projectors have build-in blending. So is there still a need for the VNS Geobox?
Of course you are the judge, but lets have a closer look.
We have several family members of Geobox, depending on the output resolution and if they are dedicated for video wall or projection. But here is already one point. A Geobox designed for primarily Video Wall and LED, can of course be used for projection as well, except that the blending has to be in the projector. But for applications where projectors are used on independent screens, these, slightly cheaper Geobox are more than ideal. In reverse, Geobox for projection with blending and warping, can equally be used on video walls.
One aspect which makes a Geobox particularly interesting is the fact that they may have as many image processing modules as they have outputs. A M804 for example has 4 independent imaging modules, while the 4K G902 has two.
Whys is this important? It mean that each imaging module can be used on its own, even that it is build into the same box. Makes a Geobox highly versatile and economic.
An imaging module may allow you to control the output independently in respect to colour, corrections, picture in picture or picture on picture, etc.. So a 4 channel unit allows you to drive 4 displays totally independent, but as one if the need arises.
Geobox is stand alone. This means all functions can be controlled with the OSD (on screen display), using the supplied IR remote or via connections through USB, HTML, RS 232, depending on the model.
Of course, if you prefer using a computer, there are free of charge software, which allow you to make the adjustment. Just in the end, don’t forget to save them to the computer.
Below are some images from the G904 instruction manual, which will demonstrate what you can do with the Geobox.
