Visit to SC&T in Taiwan
Approximately 12 months ago, we started to import products from this Taiwanese manufacturer of data distribution products.

SC&T has been around for many years and built a strong following in broadcast and security. However, new management initiatives are focusing on the AV market and its specific requirements. Of course, there is a certain overlap with the security and broadcast segments, since both are dealing with images.

SC&T is located in a typical industrial building for the region, which may appear unassuming from the outside. However, once inside, the picture changes. The key office space is shared with some assembly facilities, ensuring direct communication between administrative and manufacturing staff. Some of the manufacturing is also done offsite in a different facility.

Leaving the admin/factory space, we went upstairs to a large meeting room with display and projection technology. My contacts at SC&T showed me the new appearance of the packaging and products, making the identification of SC&T products easier.

In addition to the optical appearance, we discussed issues like USB-C and SDI level 2 compatibility. In particular, the company is working on new product developments regarding USB-C. However, I am left with the impression that the company is more concerned about product quality and consistency rather than pushing new developments at any cost.

Since many of these products deployed in our market are mission-critical, quality is of utmost importance. While SC&T is acutely aware of the presence of ‘cheap’ alternatives for some applications, they are determined to uphold top quality over short-term sales gains. This commitment to quality is a common characteristic among Taiwanese manufacturers.

ITI-Image Group will be expanding the presence of SC&T products in the Australian and New Zealand market in the near future. If product is available at the factory, even larger quantities can be shipped at relatively short notice and can reach Australia within a very few days.
But as always with manufacturing, there can be times of slow supply due to supply-chain issues. So, for larger projects, it is better to pre-warn the manufacturer so that product can be reserved.
It was certainly very good to get to know the team at SC&T on location, rather than at an exhibition, and I am very confident that this company will be a reliable long-term supplier for these crucial data conversion and transmission technologies
